Explore Their StoryOur Love Story
Florence and Pela's story began in July 1975, when they were both just 19 years old—two young teachers standing at the beginning of their lives, with dreams still unfolding and an entire future ahead of them.
Pela fell in love with Florence, but winning her heart was only the beginning. Florence's parents were hesitant to accept their relationship. They believed Pela was simply too young for marriage and hoped their daughter would choose an older man whom they considered a more suitable match.
Florence, however, knew her own heart. She had no interest in the future others had imagined for her. She had chosen Pela.
Eventually, the family elders gathered to consider the young man who was asking to become part of their family. This time, they gave Pela the opportunity to speak for himself.
And when he did, everything changed.
They saw beyond his age. They saw his intelligence, confidence, vibrant spirit, and vision for the future. They began to understand what Florence had already recognized—the character and promise of the young man she loved.
Pela was welcomed into the family.
In January 1976, Florence and Pela began their journey as husband and wife, united by a love they had been willing to believe in even when others had doubts.
Fifty years later, their story is no longer simply the story of two 19-year-old teachers who fell in love.
It is the story of a marriage that became a family, and a family that became a legacy.
From that courageous choice came six children, ten grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and generations connected by the life Florence and Pela chose to build together.
What began with two young hearts in 1975 has become fifty years of love, family, resilience, memories, and legacy.

Tributes
Mom and Dad,
Today, as we celebrate fifty years of your marriage, we find ourselves reflecting not only on the love you have shared with each other, but on the extraordinary life that your love created for all of us.
Long before we understood what marriage, sacrifice, or commitment truly meant, we were watching you live it.
Your journey began when you were both only nineteen—young, hopeful, and courageous enough to choose one another and believe in the future you could build together. At the time, you could not have known what that one decision would become.
But we are what it became.
Because you chose each other, six children were given a family to call home. Because you stayed the course, your love grew beyond the two of you into grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and a legacy that will continue long after this celebration is over.
You taught us that family is more than sharing a name or a home. It is showing up for one another. It is sacrifice. It is forgiveness. It is laughter around a crowded table, celebrations together, difficult seasons endured together, and knowing that wherever life takes us, there will always be a place where we belong.
Your marriage has never needed to be perfect to be meaningful. Its beauty is that it has endured.
Through changing seasons, raising children, building careers, carrying responsibilities, experiencing triumphs and disappointments, and watching one generation become the next, you continued writing this story together.
As your children, we recognize that so much of who we are began with you. Your sacrifices created opportunities for us. Your lessons shaped our values. Your strength gave us something to stand on. And the family surrounding you today is living evidence that the life you built mattered.
Mom, thank you for the love, strength, care, and devotion you poured into this family.
Dad, thank you for your leadership, wisdom, determination, and commitment to the family you helped build.
And to both of you, thank you for giving us something increasingly precious: a history, a foundation, and a legacy.
Look at your children. Look at your grandchildren. Look at your great-grandchild. Look at this family.
This is your love story.
This is your legacy.
We honor you. We celebrate you. We thank you.
Grandma and Grandpa,
To us, your fifty years together are more than an anniversary—they are the beginning of the family we are blessed to call ours.
Because of the love you chose all those years ago, we were given a family filled with traditions, laughter, stories, strength, and memories we will carry throughout our lives.
You have shown us that a true legacy is not measured by what we leave behind, but by the love, values, and wisdom we pass on to those who come after us.
When we look at you, we see where our family began. We see strength, commitment, and a love that has reached across generations.
Thank you for being our foundation, for loving us, and for giving us a family history we are proud to carry forward.
Your love created our family. Your lives shaped our legacy. And your story will continue through all of us.
Happy 50th Anniversary, Grandma and Grandpa.
With all our love, Your Grandchildren
May the love that brought Florence and Pela together fifty years ago continue to be the foundation upon which this family stands.
May God bless the home they built, the children they raised, the grandchildren and great-grandchild who carry their legacy, and every generation yet to come.
May this family always remain connected by love, strengthened by faith, guided by wisdom, and united through every season of life.
May the sacrifices of yesterday become the blessings of tomorrow, and may the values planted by Florence and Pela continue to flourish in the hearts of their descendants.
May their love live on through us, their legacy continue through generations, and their family remain forever blessed.
Amen.
